Thank you!

Today was my lucky day for mail, as 4 packages from Quilter Bees turned up. Many thanks for returning the fabric: Sharon, Megan, Angie and Adrienne. I will start sewing after Christmas and hopefully have at least the pieced top ready to show in a few weeks.

Heidi and Theresa, I’m not sure if the emails I sent got through, but if you could return my fabric un-sewn, I’d be grateful. Everyone’s been really busy this fall and at this point I just want to get started on my quilt 🙂

Happy Christmas and Holiday Season to All!

Quilt Show

November 19, 2010 4 comments

The quilt we made together for my month was in a quilt show at Richard Stravitz Art Gallery in Virginia Beach, VA in October. Just wanted to let all of you know! http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=482157997237&set=a.481744252237.286133.150913912237

I also realized that I never posted a photo of the completed quilt on here.  I did put it on my personal blog and flicker, but if you missed it, here’s a photo.

Arrived!

Dorrie and Sorrel, both of your packages for me cam in the mail these past few days. Thank you for doing such a lovely job!
Does anyone else need advice on the pin tucks? It seems to be something you just have to jump into doing. Please don’t worry about having them super straight or all the same width. A little wonky is OK by me 🙂 I’d really like to start assembling this quilt over the holidays, so if you’re able to get the blocks finished up and mailed I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Updates

So, how are everyone’s quilts coming along?  Have there been any top or quilt finishes lately?  It would be fun to see how everything is coming together!

Not too long ago I laid out all of the blocks I have received to see how my quilt will look.  It’s so crazy and fun.  I love it!  Thanks ladies! 🙂

Also, if you haven’t commented yet, please check up the housekeeping post and comment on any outstanding items you have.  Thanks! 🙂

Housekeeping – Wrapping Things Up

October 12, 2010 6 comments

Hey ladies!  So our bee officially finished in August- has it really nearly a month and a half since then?!  I’m thinking it might be a good time for all of us to figure out who we owe blocks to and who we need blocks from.  Please comment on this post and I’ll start making a list to organize the outstanding blocks. When you comment please note who you know you need to make blocks for, who you need blocks from, and whether there is a deadline for when you would like to receive your block. If you see a discrepancy in the list, just comment and we will work it out.  I’m just hoping we can get this discussion going so no one is forgotten.

Nichole:
Needs blocks from Meagan, Angie, Heidi, Lisa, Theresa
After I mail Bronwen’s block tomorrow, I will be all caught up
I would like to have my blocks by the end of October so I can assemble this quilt and give it as a Christmas gift.  If you don’t think you will be able to send my block back to me in time, no worries, please just return the fabric so I can assemble the block.

Adrienne:
Needs a block from Theresa.  Would like fabric back if possible.

Bronwen:
Needs blocks from Meagan, Heidi, Theresa, Angie, Adrienne, Lisa and Sharon

Sorrel:
Needs blocks from Theresa and Meagan.

Angie:
Needs a block from Theresa.  Would like fabric back if possible.

Dorrie:

October is the new August?

October 12, 2010 1 comment

Today I finally made time to work on Bronwen’s block for August.  I was a bit intimidated by the pintucks, but it was much easier and come together much quicker than I expected.  Awesome!

The pintucks are 1″ apart- I hope this is ok with you Bronwen.  I originally marked the linen to have them at 1/2″, but I thought it looked really good at 1″ so I went with it.  I’m really happy with how it turned out.  It’s a fun block!  Thanks for giving me a challenge to try something new and learn a new sewing skill!

Pintuck block for Bronwen

October 7, 2010 2 comments

A pintuck block for you, Bronwen! The pintucks were a labor of love, but I love how they turned out. It’s so organic – I kept thinking of sand dunes as I was sewing. So, the good news is: it’s done. The bad news is: sort of. Maybe my pintucks are too close together, or maybe they’re just inefficient, but I ran out of fabric to complete the block. It’s close, but not quite. Rather than ask you to send extra mail via Canada ->US -> Canada post, I’m just going to mail it back to you so that you can update it as you choose. This is going to be an extraordinary quilt. Can’t wait to see other blocks!

Autumnal Spiderweb

I’m dreadfully sorry it’s taken so long, Nichole. Hopefully you haven’t finished the project! I will mail the block in the morning 🙂

How are people faring with my cloud leopards and pin-tucks? Let me know if you have any questions.

Bronwen’s Block

September 9, 2010 4 comments

A pin-tucked block! I cheated and used my pin tuck foot; which by the way, makes the job MUCH easier. The tucks are 1/2″ spaced and they give the linen a really nice look. And I love Echino! I can’t wait to see the finished project, with the varied direction of the pin tucks! Enjoy!

worst bee member ever!

Hello all – I am the worst bee member ever and am soooo sorry! After hearing from Adrienne, I am working on her block and getting it out to her asap. I also found everyone else’s packages. I know some of those were sent out recently, but most are really old. My question to you is what would you like me to do at this point? Some of you have already assembled your quilt tops and so no longer need a block from me, but I would like to offer what I hope will work for you. I make pillows and would be happy to convert your block to a pillow cover and send it out to you. When you have a moment, could you let me know what you would prefer? I will be working on all the blocks today/tomorrow and hope to have them all ready to go by the end of the week.   Also, I found a completed block among the packages – I believe it’s for Sharon…  Really dropped the ball on this bee, sorry ladies!

Thanks,

Lisa
