This block was so, so fun. Check off another I-always-wanted-to-make-this block. =]
Wonky log cabins are my favorite blocks to make. I managed to get one block to 12.5″ x 12.5″ but the other only made it to 11″ x 11″. I ran out of purple (and the basketball print, which I really liked) and didn’t have the right shades in my stash. For as much as I love purple, all I have is lilac or bright purple, which I found odd (and irritating). I hope you don’t mind adding the last round, Sorrel. I am sure Adam will love his quilt. =]

Here is my block for Dorrie. Here is my blog post about it. Trust me, the beer helped! I do really love how these blocks are turning out. I know I would have *never* tried this block on my own, but I am so glad I did it for you Dorrie! =]
Midge (my sewing machine) and I finally had time to get together yesterday. Two blocks for Angie are sewn and ready to send. I used Anna Maria Horner’s Super Circles tutorial from her book Seams to Me.
My original plan for block 1 was to layer 3 circles instead of just the one, but it didn’t look right. Block 2 used the now leftover circles and strips of each fabric.
I had a lot of fabric left over, but it is cut into strips. I thought I would need more strips than I did. I am sending them back to you. I am betting you can use them in the future. =]
Again, I am sorry these are a little late, but they were so fun to make. I was only able to make one block 12.5″. I had a bunch of smaller strips left so I started two more blocks for you. I hope you don’t mind finishing them out.
They are on the way to you with the fabrics for my block this month. =]
I am so sorry these are late! I had so much fun making these blocks. I tried to get the most I could from the fabrics you sent. I was able to make a 12.5″, three 6.5″ and three 3.5″ blocks. I did have some good size pieces left over which I sent back to you. I would have made more from them, but the measuring and cutting started to go south and I didn’t want to waste any fabric. (The last 6.5″ square I made started as a 3.5″ that was only 3.25″ when I thought I had finished.)
These are on the way to you with your fabric for my block this month. =]
March is my month for blocks. I would like each of you to make a 20″ square block that looks like a quilt already. My goal is to make a large quilt that looks like a collection of my favorite quilts. I have some inspiration photos above and they can also be found in my flickr gallery or in my flickr favorites. Everyone is getting a completely different set of fabrics. (Photos can be seen on my flickr account.) Please feel free to add fabrics from your stash that compliment the fabrics you receive.
The packages all have longer explanations of what I am hoping for, but let me know if you have any questions. I really hope you all have fun with this.
P.S. Lisa, Sharon and Theresa: I put the block I made for you in with your fabric package. I am so sorry they are late. The last couple months just ran past me. I hope they are worth the wait. =]
