fresh little zig zag

as soon as Adriennes fabric arrived on thursday I dove right in and started cutting. this is the way i usually quilt- very haphazard. I am mostly happy with the result… of course I would be happier if it actually met Adrienne’s size requirements…right now it is 18 by 20. I could cut it down a bit and then add a one inch border of the blue. would that look bad? what do you all think?

please excuse the shadows. it is night time but I really wanted to post…

Oh my goodness, how cute! My first thought at making it larger was to add a strip of solid white and leave the rest alone, but it is right in front of you and you would probably know what is best. Either way, I’m sure it’ll turn out great! I am still trying to decide on a little quilt, I just don’t want to duplicate something that someone else might be doing too!

Sharon! This is so great! I’m with Anna: white strips will help keep the piece modern and will just let it sing as it is. I’ve been mapping out my block, and you’ve inspired me to get cutting on the fabric!

So beautiful and fresh! Use white. I agree. As a total aside, I found these texture pictures on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/themayfly/3341970600/in/pool-quiltingbee/ From the Virtual Quilting Bee 08-09. I think I have an inspiration point!

I LOVE it! Whatever you decide to do is fine with me. I am sorry there wasn’t enought fabric. It’s so hard for me to judge that. Excellent job! =]

its not so much that there is not enough fabric…i have plenty of the blue left. it is more my lack of real planning. when I did the math in my head it seemed like it would be big enough…apparently i am not very good at math. i am out of the white you sent… my two thoughts are to use another white or to cut out a wonky square from the middle of the zig zag and frame the whole thing in a totally different color like orange or purple…we shall see what strikes my fancy after i get the kids in bed tonight.

Super cute block! You’ll have to update us with your final choice. . . I can’t wait to see what you choose.
